U.S : Aircraft Libya Has Destroyed And Can not Operate

One senior United States military (U.S.) said it had destroyed the country's air force Libya. While civilian casualties is unknown.
It was mentioned by Admiral Gerard Hueber as Chief of Staff, Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn at Pentagon, aboard the USS Mount Whitney, in the Mediterranean Sea, March 23, 2011 night and quoted from VOA news.
He said coalition forces have been flying for 24 hours. As a result, Libya now has no air force again.

"Libyan Air Force has been prevented. their plane had been destroyed and can not operate. We have no confirmation of the flight regime forces during last 24 hours," he explained.

Hueber added there has been no reports of civilian casualties of the attack. It is now targeting tanks, artillery and rocket launchers.
He also moved westward attack to protect the city and Misrata Ajdabiya. Hueber said there was no indication that troops loyal to the Libyan leader, Muammar Gaddafi. Gaddafi supporting the troops also had to stop attacking civilians as required by UN Security Council resolution that sets no-fly zone.

The purpose of the attack missions, continued Hueber, not to overthrow the Libyan leader, but to protect civilians and allow humanitarian aid to reach them.
In Cairo, Egypt, Defense Secretary Robert Gates suggested a new fighter opposition now has a chance to regroup after Gaddafi's air force attacks.

"I think a lot of people who are in opposition and which play a role in the early days has been subject to. The situation may change in which the opposition fighters can not use the plane. They could have gone back to fight but we do not know," Gates said.

Gates said the U.S. side is still planning to hand over a key role in the attack on Libya for its coalition allies.
