Recent Earthquake in Japan Kills 2 Elderly

Large magnitude earthquakes occur in Japan again on Thursday, April 7, 2010. At least two people were killed.
The earthquake happened on Thursday ahead of a midnight local time. Measuring 7.1 on the Richter Scale (SR) - SR 7.4 previously reported - was the strongest quake since the tragedy of 9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami in Japan on 11 March.

Until Friday morning there were two citizens were killed. They are 79 year old man and a woman aged about 60 years. As many as 132 people were reported injured. Epicenter of the quake was located at approximately the same location with the earthquake March 11 last.

Witnesses at the scene said that the earthquake lasted for 15 minutes.

"The earthquake has just happened in Tokyo approximately 15 minutes, the visitor who was watching the Disney Sea Disney Parade was an uproar,"he said Widi Nugroho Sahib, Head of Corporate PR-Soho Group.

Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said no tsunami warning was launched only in Japan, but also in Russia, Marcus Island and also the northern Marianas. Control of the tsunami are now underway in Guam archipelago, Taiwan, Philippines, Indonesia and the Hawaiian Islands.

The quake which hit at 2:46 pm local time at a depth of 10 kilometers, approximately 120 kilometers from the east coast. The region is located approximately 380 kilometers from the region north of Tokyo.

In downtown Tokyo, tall buildings swayed too, making the workers scrambled to seek refuge, reports Assiociated Press
